Mao-y Christmas to The One and All
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the Christmas season approaches, visions of sugar plums dance in the heads of millions of Americans – millions of unemployed Americans who, in lieu of fruity hallucinations, would likely prefer paychecks dancing in their bank accounts.
For others, the holidays are overshadowed by concerns for the future of health care, free speech and the massive American debt dumped on the backs of generations to come.
Nevertheless, ’tis the season to be jolly – to be thankful, joyous, optimistic for what lies ahead in the new year and beyond –certainly easier said than done.
As Americans struggle to find the silver lining in dark times such as these, one might do well to consider a perennial Christmas favorite, “The Sound of Music,” in which Maria sings of her own strategy for maintaining a positive outlook on life.
High unemployment and permanent welfare,
State-controlled media just like Bejing’s –
These are a few of our socialist things.
Taking the right to bear arms from civilians,
Running the deficit up in the trillions,
Underachievers rewarded like kings –
These are a few of our socialist things.
Making the fifteenth of April more stressful,
Punishing people for being successful,
Funding Obama’s extravagant flings –
These are a few of our socialist things.
When Barack speaks, when it seems bleak,
When I just could spit –
I simply look forward to two thousand twelve,
and then I don’t feel like shit.
